My name is Brandon Baker. I was born in Eugene, Oregon and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I have been an Alaskan resident now for 18 years. I am proud to call myself a University of Alaska: Anchorage alumni. I am intensely passionate about back-country snowmobiling, diesel trucks, physical fitness, and entrepreneurship. I am a huge outdoor enthusiast that enjoys exploring every inch of vast wilderness possible.
In my first year of college, I got the rare opportunity to be a part of a Mountain West Conference Championship swim team and currently coach high school diving along with volunteer as a club coach during the off-season. The greatest feeling in the world is watching a young high school athlete achieve a level of success they never thought was attainable whether that is in their athletic, educational, or professional career.
After my first year of college at UNLV, I returned home to focus on my education. As far as my educational career is concerned, I have always had an intense interest in entrepreneurship. While entrepreneurship is not an offered major at UAA, this led me to study accounting, marketing, and management in college in an attempt to develop the most well-rounded business knowledge possible. While I was only five classes away from an accounting degree and four classes away from a marketing degree, I decided it was time for me to hit the real world running. After six years of studying business at the college level, it was time to turn knowledge into real world experience.
Throughout college I made a good living waiting tables at Outback Steakhouse a couple days a week during the school year and picked up a second job during the summers to help save up for the school year so I could work part-time while attending classes. After graduating from UAA I began my professional career as a sales rep for an energy drink distribution company. I then accepted the Aquatics Director position at The Alaska Club South. After several months of exceptionally tight budgeting, I was offered a job as a marketing specialist for Klondike Advertising.
I have spent the last couple months working closely with senior sales reps at Klondike, creating creative employee and customer retention programs. While I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunities and experience all of these jobs have provided me with, I am currently seeking a career with more growth potential. My ideal career would be something that involves working closely with businesses to help them achieve a greater level of success.
On top of my full-time professional career, I am a small business owner. Currently my business partner and myself are actively seeking help raising capital to create an environmentally friendly company that recycles oil and produces a high grade fuel from said waste oils.
